APACHE on BS2000/OSD
Features, Components and Versions
Perl ("Practical Extraction and Report Language") is a scripting language
known from the UNIX environment.
Perl
is modelled on the syntax of C and various shell scripting languages.
With its numerous modules and enhancements Perl is universally applicable.
Perl gained special importance with regard to web servers, as it is well suited
for processing of text and form data. There are free Perl modules available
in the internet for a lot of purposes.
By fully integrating Perl into the Apache web server a much better performance
of the scripts is achieved. Additionally it is possible to install and use Perl
as a stand-alone product, e.g. for task automation in POSIX.
Perl is delivered as product PERL in the BS2000 delivery unit APACHE.
The Apache module mod_perl, which handles the integration of Perl into Apache,
also is contained in the BS2000 delivery unit APACHE.
